Events & Venues Technician
Essential Job Duties
Provides assistance to customers by preparing library facilities for their events; provides logistical and technical support to accommodate specific program/event needs. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Development and with an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Events & Venues Technician will:
Arranges meeting rooms, event spaces, and theater stage and lobby areas, such as: moving tables and chairs around, and occasionally putting tablecloths on the tables, as well as pushing pianos or other large equipment. Doing laundry after the event.
Assists patrons and coworkers during events and meeting room bookings. Help with laptop/projector connectivity issues, audio issues, operation of equipment for events and meeting rooms, running theater visual and audio equipment, wiring mics, and other tasks related to audio/visual needs.
Using standards and procedures provided by the Facilities department, cleans and stocks meeting rooms and event spaces, including servery and storage areas, windows, theater and other areas, and occasionally restrooms, to return them to original and functional condition.
Maintains equipment, including filters and bulbs of projectors, bulbs of stage lights, battery replacements for mics and other equipment, and equipment replacements as necessary.
Helps maintain the Library events scheduling software. Uses software to ensure rooms are set up correctly and events signage is displayed correctly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience with professional audio visual equipment or event set up experience.
Hours
Full time, 40 hour workweek.
Partial days, evenings, and weekends required.
Wages
Starting/Hiring Range: $15.00 - $18.00 Hourly
Total Salary Range: $15.00 - $21.00, Hourly
Requirements
Spanish language skills preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.
Public service orientation and commitment to excellent and genuine customer service.
Demonstration of character and integrity in all situations while upholding SJCPL’s ethical standards.
Practical experience and proficiency with computers, including the Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Windows, Mac OS, and communication technologies. Stay current with new technologies.
Dependability, punctuality, trustworthiness, good attendance, and work habits.
Physical agility and strength to bend, reach, lift, move equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and to walk for long periods of time.
