Teen Internship

An internship at SJCPL is a chance to give back to the community while also gaining real life experience in an energetic and challenging environment. Plus you get to work with some awesome librarians!

The River Park branch is in search of a friendly, enthusiastic, and imaginative high school student to help with children and teen programming in our neighborhoods. 

If chosen for this internship, you will work an Associate Librarian on planning, preparing, and running daily activities that occur Monday through Friday. Interns will have the opportunity to learn more about the youth of the neighborhood while helping to provide fun and enriching activities for the community. 

Once here you will:

  • Help existing library staff plan and carry out activities for kids.
  • Order supplies necessary for upcoming programs.
  • Plan new programming on and off site.
  • Have fun with kids coming into the library.
  • Help with outreach events with community partners.
  • Help other patrons in the library with questions.


You might be a good fit for this job if you:

  • Like kids!
  • Are comfortable with computers and handheld devices (like phones and tablets).
  • Are community-minded.
  • Take initiative, are enthusiastic, creative, flexible, energetic, values diversity, and have a sense of humor.
